The A2-style flash hider is the standard military-specification muzzle device for the M16/M4/AR-15 platform, featuring a closed bottom tine and open top and side tines. The closed bottom tine prevents the flash hider from kicking up dust and debris when firing in the prone position, while the open upper tines vent propellant gases to disperse and suppress the muzzle flash signature. The A2 flash hider has been the standard-issue muzzle device on U.S. military M16 and M4 rifles for decades and remains one of the most proven and widely compatible muzzle devices available for the AR-15 platform. It provides effective flash suppression, minimal recoil effect, and compatibility with standard M16/AR-15 bayonets and under-barrel accessories that interface at the muzzle.
