Order the Magpul STR in OD Green by itself and that’s all you get — the stock, with no buffer tube, buffer, or hardware to mount it. This combo closes that gap. We’ve paired the genuine Magpul STR Storage/Type Restricted Mil-Spec stock with a complete carbine buffer tube assembly, so everything you need to finish an AR-15 lower ships together instead of in separate orders.
The STR is Magpul’s storage-capable carbine stock, built on a reinforced polymer A-frame, and the olive drab finish pairs cleanly with tan or two-tone builds. It uses a friction-lock and cam-lock interface to cut the wobble you feel on a bare stock, adds an improved sloped cheek weld, and packs two water-resistant battery tubes in the butt that each hold a pair of CR123A or AA cells.
You also get a reversible push-button QD sling socket, 1.25″ sling loops, and a replaceable 0.30″ rubber butt-pad. The included buffer tube assembly handles the recoil system: a 6-position mil-spec receiver extension, a carbine buffer, the action (recoil) spring, a castle nut, and an end plate.
Everything is sized for the mil-spec 1.148″ tube, which helps the STR’s friction lock seat consistently, and it installs on any standard AR-15/M16 carbine lower, including 80% lowers you finish at home. Pair it with one of our AR-15 lower parts kits or browse more stocks and buffer tube kits.
