AICS (Accuracy International Chassis System) magazines are used with bolt-action rifles and precision chassis systems that specify the AICS magazine standard, unlike STANAG-pattern AR magazines designed for semi-automatic platforms. Many aftermarket precision rifle chassis systems (Chassis rifles, McMillan, Manners, etc.) specify AICS-pattern magazines for their magazine well — confirm your rifle or chassis specifies an AICS-pattern magazine before ordering, as magazine interfaces vary between manufacturers and models. The polymer construction provides corrosion resistance and self-lubricating feed lips for reliable feeding in varied environmental conditions without the maintenance burden of a steel magazine.
