The KAC SR-15 lower is one of the better-regarded AR-15 lower receivers ever produced. Knight’s Armament forged these from 7075-T6 aluminum — the same alloy and temper used in military-contract M4 and M16 receivers — and finished them with Type III Class 2 hardcoat anodizing for a durable, uniform matte surface. The “Stoner Rifle” rollmark on the magwell distinguishes this as a KAC product, and the fit and finish reflect the tolerances KAC maintains across its military and commercial production lines.
For clone builders, the SR-15 lower serves as a high-quality foundation for any AR-15-pattern build. It is not a program-specific lower (the M110 SASS, Mk11, and SR-25 have their own dedicated KAC lowers with different markings and dimensions), but it is a KAC-manufactured receiver that carries the Stoner Rifle lineage. All pin-hole dimensions are traditional mil-spec, so any standard mil-spec trigger group, safety selector, bolt catch, and magazine release will drop in without modification.
The “virgin” designation means this receiver left KAC’s factory as a stripped lower — it was never assembled into a rifle. Under federal law, a receiver that has never been part of a rifle may be built as either a rifle or a pistol. Builders planning a pistol-length or SBR configuration should verify compliance with their state laws before building.
