Geissele Super Duty Forged Upper/Lower Matched Set in DDC — The Foundation for a Correct URGI or Super Duty Build
The Geissele Super Duty receiver set is the starting point for anyone building a serious AR-15 on a genuine Geissele platform. This matched set pairs a Super Duty stripped upper receiver with a Super Duty stripped lower receiver, both forged from 7075-T6 aluminum and finished in Geissele’s proprietary Desert Dirt Color (DDC) — the same anodizing process used on their contract rifles.
Why the Matched Set Matters
Geissele machines their upper and lower receivers to tighter tolerances than mil-spec requires. The result is a fit between upper and lower that eliminates the wobble common in mix-and-match builds. The DDC anodizing is done in-house at Geissele’s North Wales, Pennsylvania facility, and because the color is a product of the anodizing bath rather than a coating, shade can vary slightly between production runs. Buying a matched set guarantees consistent color across both halves of your rifle — something you cannot guarantee when ordering receivers separately.
What You Should Know Before Building
The upper receiver is stripped — no forward assist, dust cover, or barrel nut included. The lower receiver is stripped with no fire control group, buffer assembly, or grip. This is a builder’s set for those who want to select every component themselves. The lower receiver is a serialized firearm and requires FFL transfer. Geissele’s DDC finish is a nanoweapon-grade hardcoat anodize that exceeds MIL-A-8625 Type III standards for abrasion resistance.
